Community Garden at Acorn House, Cinderford

Despite our ongoing uncertainty with Kensley Sheds Craft centre and legal dispute with Forestry England, our positive community work continues as we complete the first phase of the community garden at P3’s Acorn House.

P3 are an amazing housing charity - working with rough sleepers to help them into secure housing, then provide whatever support is needed, be it financial, addiction issues, mental health and them helping them into more permanent social housing.

The community garden will provide a healing sanctuary, a beautiful and inspiring communal space for residents to spend time.

We specialise in edible, mostly perennial spaces which are low maintenance - we provide ongoing community engagement days to break down barriers, address anti social behaviour and give people new hope and inspiration to create positive change in their lives.

Many veg, herbs & perennials waiting for their new homes! Thanks to all the Wednesday land skill volunteers for all their work planting and propagating this year!

Scott & Mitch sharpening stakes which will hold the beds stable.

Emma measuring out mypex to line the sides of the beds - the ground will be mulched with cardboard to suppress weed growth and filled with well rotted manure, then top soil.

Finally we can start moving the manure and earth into place!

Nearly there - and you can see the herb spiral built with rocks from the old pond, which will be moved to a better location.

and the planting is underway!

Getting a bit tiring now!
