Wildlings Summer Holiday Club 2022

The delightful chatter of The Rewild Project's Wildlings echoed through the Forest this August. Living up to their wild name, the raucous gaggle of 5-12 year olds descended on Noxon Farms' once peaceful landscape.

Noxon has an enchanting air. I would often arrive at the site early to soak in the peace of the hot summer's mornings. Birds barely awake, I would watch them dance across the calm morning sky.

One by one the children appear. Turned out in gleaming clothes and clutching their parents' side. Nervously they greet The Rewild Crew and are quickly asked to get stuck into chopping the veg for our famous Rewild soup!

Quickly the air is filled with squeals of joy and laughter. Once clean clothes are covered in mud and the nervous faces are replaced by beaming smiles.

Mud pies made. Herbal teas sipped. Fresh apples picked.

I often find myself in awe of how creative and robust the children who come to the holiday club are. They never seem phased by the belting heat and heavy rain, they are all eager to make and play! The chance to watch young people live so freely and harmoniously with the landscape is an honour and continues to teach me new lessons in how to remain excited by the world.

I look forward to being able to step into my role as a big kid once again!
