The Rewild Project at Green Gathering 2022
This year The Rewild Project worked in two areas of the Green Gathering site. In the Crafts area we demonstrated roadkill skinning and tanning, spinning and weaving. In the Kids Garden we were sharing skills in pottery, nettle cordage, felting, spinning and weaving, and jewellery.
It was hot, but there were plenty of trees and structures providing shade. The Rewild staff had a great time working hard, and still found time to enjoy the many festival delights too. Loads of smiling faces and skills shared, it was a super event to work at and we can’t wait for the next one!
“A landscape designed by the wealthy to generate further income, at first it seems an odd site for the home of Green Gathering. It dawned on me as I entered the grounds and found our camping area, it was as if we were reclaiming this land, even if it was for only a brief moment.
The festival is like no other that I have been to. Every strand of it woven together with love, careful thought and creativity, there is something there for everyone. This is it. This is humanity un-homogenised and un-suppressed, raw and beautiful. These people are fully alive and full of hope, shaping the world for the better, sharing their knowledge, skills and creativity and fighting for a better future.
Sending ripples out with every festival like a heartbeat for the earth.
Love. Hope. Heal. Nurture. Create. Educate. Defend.
I left the festival happy, my heart and mind nourished.”
