KENSLEY SHEDS CRAFT CENTRE

Kensley Sheds Craft Centre Is an off grid cabin in the heart of the Forest of Dean.

It was our main base for around 8 years. We refurbished the building with Lottery Funding, which was meant to provide a lasting legacy for local people. We ran activities and workshops 7 days per week for all ages and abilities and had funding to collect people from around the forest to attend. All our money was put into local craftspeople, local jobs and local producers for food and rink.

Last year 2023 Forestry England made FALSE accusations and UNFAIRLY evicted us. This is happening across the country to small charities and community interest companies based on so called public land!!

It is next to the Wildlife Trust reserve ‘Woorgreen Lake’ which makes it an ideal place to spot some stunning wildlife!

Kensley does have running water and an accessible toilet, but no mains electricity or gas. We use the wood burner to heat the space in the winter and gas/fire to cook on. It can get very cold in winter so please be sure to dress appropriately.

DIRECTIONS

Where you turn off the main Speech House Road B4226 you will see the ‘New Leaf and ‘Rewild’ sign by the road along with a small car park.

Follow the track for approximately 100 metres, you might see the stunning ‘stained glass window’ from the sculpture trail to your left, then, just past the house on the right you will see our gate.

Often typing in ‘The Rewild Project’ into Google maps will bring up the correct location for Sat Nav.

Our ‘what 3 words’ location is ‘Tomato, retained, purple’.

Grid reference SO 6266 1278.

PARKING

You can park anywhere within the gate that you are able to turn around. Please leave the entrance to the main building clear as we often utilise this space for workshops. Other sheds do not need frequent access.

Alternatively you are welcome to park at the bottom of the track, or even in the small car park by the roadside and take a short walk to the venue.

If you are cycling you are welcome to bring your bike right up to the entrance and lock it to the shelter.

Regrettably, The Rewild Project CIC will accept no liability for any loss, theft or damage to your vehicle or belongings whilst visiting.

TRANSPORT

We do understand that public transport is limited in the area but we please ask that you lift share where possible and given enough notice we may be able to utilise our minibus to aid with transport if required. Please ask us!

The Forest of Dean Cycle centre is just near us and they have bikes available to hire.
