Health and well being minutes 27/09/21

Introductions

Present – Emma, Andrew, Clare, Kelly, Gemma, Becky, Kasia, Scott and Amy

 

Emma – year of birth area of interest and experience, window of opportunity for people to make changes in their lives, ante-natal classes, yoga, birthing support, post-natal yoga, support around miscarriage and still birth – something that is generally lacking at the moment – how heritage crafts can be a really good mechanism for healing.  Health and well-being runs through everything that we offer as a project.  Great potential for cross-over with over circles and projects – views this circle as being an advisory board to feed into other projects

Andrew – skills in emotional well-being – walking, shinrin yoku, forest of bathing, tying in with CIC that have been set up for community engagement work, Wyedean Well-being – introduce well-being services where it is needed, speaking to social prescribers to gain the help for those who need it most

Clare - Relexology, reki, Indian head massage, guided mediation – looking to begin to work with rewild and help in anyway she can

Kelly – more traditional well-being background having been working for the NHS previously and owning a gym, more interested in a holistic view of well being, interested in the whole cycle from conception to death, shinrin yoku practitioner

Gemma – desire for connecting with people would like to see a regular meeting place one a week, help to access other services, pot luck idea. Action learning group – supporting others in whatever it is they are going through, peer support group.  Group shared previous experience of this

Becky – not feeling connected to large part of ourselves, wanting support each other through growth and change, background in mental health and addiction support – would like to offer this and possibly a place to detox, kinesiology training recognises the complex nature of well-being as a subject

Kasia – recognises the support that already exists in the Rewild Project, and feeling inspired – discusses the safe space that has been established at Kensley Sheds and noxon – found it beneficial and found the sharing in others stories beneficial, has mediation experience and interested in counciling people through difficult experiences

Scott – body worker who has done a wide range of different massage and body work techniques, chi qung, yoga, wim hof, interested in utilising this space – opening up so stop well-being being an elitist space, open honest, safe space, Scott wants to share his knowledge with others, facilitate one candle lit evening a week, space for sharing, massage, interested in helping others on their healing journey- keen to start natural movement

Scope of the group

Health and well-being such an essential part of life, looking at ways to integrate this into more of what the Rewild Project does, the circle is seen as a consultant and advisory board

Scope to add health and well-being information to be added to feedback forms, help to gain funding, also that celebrations to tie into health and well-being

Offered space in Coleford

Space on mayhill will be available soon, potential collaboration for forest bathing to be offered through the Rewild Project infrastructure

Scott updates the group on Cai’s skills, specifically natural movement side that Cai is keen on.  Forestry warm up chatting to participants about how to look after their bodies, and caring for themselves. Start using the sheds in the evenings, whether shared workshops, film nights, pot lucks.  29th October – workday at St Antony’s well and Bourdon spring – Scott update on springs and wells project.

 

Monthly meeting suggested, picking a small project and just running with it, to feedback at the meeting, keen to get started. Lantern walk suggested Emma and Gemma to schedule.  Identified the need for some sort of shared calender and scheduling for kensley to allow crew members to book the space for different things.

Thursday evenings to be a shared well-being space, with skills share and shared meal. Andrew to add to the website. Also potential for use of Kensley during school holidays on Thursdays and Fridays.  Thursday group to begin 30th September and take place every week from 5pm-9pm.  Womens group is to take monthly beginning on 6th October, 6pm-8pm.

Go outdoors get active funding? Worth further investigation.  Kelly and Andrew to investigate how to become a recognised within local doctors surgeries for green prescribing .

Group to meet again in a month.
