Rekindle Youth is our amazing project working with young people to re-ignite a passion for learning.

We focus learning on heritage crafts and land-based skills.

Many of our young people are NOT THRIVING in the current education system.
A system which places so much pressure centred around academia & sorely lacking in practical life skills.

This programme connects young people to traditional skills, builds confidence and helps to broaden their horizons, whether they choose to take their skills on to an apprenticeship with craftspeople
or maybe it will help to shape their world view as they go on to another career path.

Qualification Information

Skills for Living and Working

We are initially working to the ‘AWARD’ which is 6 credits / 60 hours contact time delivered over 18 weeks.

The same hours / credits applies for entry levels 1,2 & 3 and Level 1 / Level 2 allowing us to deliver to a range of students working at different levels concurrently.

The units we have chosen for the pilot / introduction are:

Each of these units are 3 credits and students can choose 2. There is lots of scope to add extra units if they choose to continue to complete a whole year and gain the ‘CERTIFICATE' which is 15 credits / 120 guided learning hours and could see them adding specialist subjects at 3 units each such as:

Green woodwork

Willow craft

Leatherwork

Iron Forging

Wool: Raw Material to finished product

Working in craft

Textile Craft

Felting

Ceramics

Any students going on to a second year, taking a combination of these modules would extend their qualification to the ‘DIPLOMA’ at 37 Units / 296 Contact hours.

Our long term goal is to develop this into apprenticeship scheme using Lottery Heritage Grant with whom we already have 5 years delivery track record under Forester’s Forest
