Abundance Scheme Update September 2022

The Abundance Scheme has kicked off and is now in full harvest swing! So far we've collected 100s of kgs of plums, apples, pears and crab apples. Our volunteers taste tested heritage varieties of fruits and seen how pink the inside of Pink Lady's should be!

We've partnered with and donated to organisations such as The Salvation Army, Bream Community Fridge, The Forest Foodbank & Chepstow Community Fridge. The fruit has been saved from rotting on the floor and has instead been very gratefully received and distributed to people in the local area.

Our first preservation day was all about plums. We made spiced plum jam, plum & apple chutney and plum, chilli and ginger sauce. Perfect gifts to give away in the coming frosty months!

We welcome anyone to come and join in for harvesting, preserving or delivering fruits to food banks.
