Growing Futures Update September 2022

“The Growing Futures team were buzzing to be able to deliver their first session at Primrose Hill last Tuesday. Susie, Tamsin and Scott began the design process with the children, which will be continuing over the next few weeks and involving them at every step as much as possible so they have full ownership of their garden.

They kicked off with looking at the elements of fire/ sun, water, earth, wind/ oxygen and wood and how they influence growing. We explored ways in which the elements can be embraced and harnessed to aid the growing process.

This Tuesday the GF team will continue in Primrose Hill looking at reading the landscape with the children and how to work in harmony with what is already in the area.” - Tamsin Sagar

Home Education sessions at Noxon Permaculture site are going well. The children are learning permaculture gardening.

At the moment we are preparing the site for winter, feeding the soil, propagating herbaceous perennials, harvesting the lovely organic tomatoes, berries, apples and squashes.

We have now started sessions teaching permaculture gardening at St Whites primary school, teaching the children about composting and soil health. It is wonderful to see so many children enjoying being outside and learning about how to take care of our earth in a positive way while linking this to wider curriculum learning.” - Susie O’Sullivan
