New Potential Partnership - P3

We’ve been consulting with local housing charity P3 to potentially create a community growing area behind Acorn House, located in the centre of Cinderford.

Acorn House has space for 10 people who have been rough sleeping to find a stepping stone into longer term housing solutions.

P3 manager, Ray has been encouraging P3 residents to attend The Rewild Project sessions aimed at local disadvantaged groups (funded by Barnwood Trust) to help them get into a routine - and while those who have attended, do really enjoy the sessions - it’s not always easy to motivate residents to get up early, to be on the minibus for 9.30am!

So Ray, Matt and the team have been devising a plan to make use of the dilapidated garden space behind the Acorn House - some of the idea’s include chickens, perennial vegetables which take less maintenance, a flower garden and Green Woodwork craft shed.

The Rewild Project method of community designed spaces means that we give the residents and staff the information they need to make a design that suits them and their needs.

The first step of the process is to undertake some urgent tree work, to make the site suitable, and do a survey of existing features - we will then run an engagement day to gather idea’s and come up with a co-design plan to move forwards with.

We are all very excited about the possibilities and hope that by providing a green space in the doorstep, that antisocial behaviours will be reduced in Cinderford Triangle - creating better community cohesion and interactions.
