Abundance Scheme Update: Thank you!
Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and everyone who's taken part in the Abundance Scheme this season! All your hard work has been so appreciated and we couldn't have done it without you. We have been able to harvest and distribute over a tonne of apples, pears, plums, crabapples, quinces and squash. Special shout out to Kate who has attended almost every harvest and volunteered at both of the events we ran too!
A big thanks to all the tree owners who got in touch and gave us access to their gardens and the huge variety of fruit and nut trees. The help given on harvest days in the form of providing drinks and biscuits or lending a hand to collect the fruit was so kind! Also thanks to everyone who attended our first Apple Pressing event with the apple press and scratter which was on loan from Benthyg Monmouth. Check out their catalogue with their Library of Things for anyone to hire. Our apple pressing day was a roaring success and will definitely take place again next apple season! We received a wonderful letter from the Forest Foodbank recognising the contribution our team has made this season and how gratefully received all the fresh fruit and veg has been. Yvonne, who works at The Forest Foodbank, and her husband James have been instrumental in helping us get the fruit to where it's needed most in the community. We are planning for next year already so watch this space if you'd like to be involved in any way!
