  • The Rewild Project CIC (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Home Ed Youth Programme (10-16yrs)

Rekindle Youth is a project administered by The Rewild Project (rewilding people, not just landscapes) we are developing a qualification in Heritage Crafts and Land Based Skills (CALS).

The OCN Qualification in ‘Skills for Work and Life’ can be achieved by those who turn 14 by the end of the course.

Those under 14 will receive a laminated ‘Rewild Project Certificate of Achievement’

QUALIFICATION INFORMATION

Skills for Living and Working

We are initially working to the ‘AWARD’ which is 6 credits / 60 hours contact time delivered over 18 weeks.

The same hours / credits applies for entry levels 1,2 & 3 and Level 1 / Level 2 allowing us to deliver to a range of students working at different levels concurrently.

The units we have chosen for the pilot / introduction are:

Each of these units are 3 credits and students can choose 2. There is lots of scope to add extra units if they choose to continue to complete a whole year and gain the ‘CERTIFICATE' which is 15 credits / 120 guided learning hours and could see them adding specialist subjects at 3 units each such as:

Any students going on to a second year, taking a combination of these modules would extend their qualification to the ‘DIPLOMA’ at 37 Units / 296 Contact hours.

Our long term goal is to develop this into apprenticeship scheme using Lottery Heritage Grant.

A Typical Day

  • 9.30am - Young people arrive and settle in with food prep for lunch.

  • 10am - Welcome circle to connect, and find out what activities are on offer for the day.

  • 10.30 - Fire wood prep and fire lighting skills.

  • 11am - Morning walk, with nature connection games and activities.

  • 11.45 - Back to prepare for lunch

  • 12.15 - Lunch

  • 1pm - Craft Activities

  • 2.15 - Closing Circle

  • 2.30 - Home time.

Our aims

  • To build resilience in our young people, a connection to nature and to themselves.

  • To develop a range of useful practical, and transferable skills meeting and learning from some inspiring local craftspeople.

  • To provide a complete holistic rewilding experience setting them in good stead for the future.

Special Education Needs

We. know that the home education community has a higher than average number of special education needs. We have been working in this field for many years, and have experience as parents and educators. Of course every child is unique, and by treating the young people we work with, with respect, listening to their needs and helping them to build trust and feel comfortable in the space, with our non competitive, collaborative approach most young people find their place quickly. Do contact us if you want to discuss anything in more detail.

Joining

We would love for your young person to join and thrive with this unique opportunity. You can book a taster session below. Places are strictly limited. Max group size 12, with 2 members of staff plus craftspeople.
