Stella Berg has been involved with the training and sharing of traditional skills for over fifty years, beginning with spinning, dyeing and historical clothing-related projects in East London where she ran a textile business. She now teaches a range of related subjects including the production of natural yarn and cloth, dyeing with local materials and making beautiful and durable clothing and domestic textiles, made to last for many years. She teaches a range of these skills within the Rewild Project.
Professionally Stella has been a homeopath and herbalist since 1980, when she co-founded Helios Homeopathic pharmacy and taught in many homeopathy colleges in UK and Europe, starting her own apprenticeship training in Homeopathy in London and then on the Welsh borders. She teaches general healthcare and the making and using of traditional natural preparations for home use, with a particular interest in supporting women in pregnancy and with young families. Another area of interest is working with the families of people in the terminal stages of life.
Underlying it all Stella has an abiding commitment to supporting a simple living style where people in local communities share their time and skills, without a huge dependence on consumer lifestyles.
We have enough technology now, and it is time we valued our own skills, energy and inventiveness to build more satisfying lives together as communities. The Rewild project addresses this regeneration of local, traditional living, and everyone of any age has something to offer, to help us all feel connected, valued and loved as human beings.
